Celebrating Nigeria’s Independence At 60

October 1, 2020by Ovacom Media0

On the 1st of October, 1960, Nigeria became a sovereign state after gaining independence from British rule. This led to the celebration of Nigeria’s Independence every year till date.

These celebrations are not just done in Nigeria only but also across the world by Nigerians in the Diaspora. As the giant of Africa, her unique role in enforcing Democracy in Africa cannot be overemphasized.

Despite the myriad of challenges facing the most populated country in Africa, her frontline role in advancing entertainment cannot be underestimated.

In a widely broadcast address by Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, he reiterated that;

Nigeria Independence. Muhammadu Buhari

“At this stage in our nationhood, it is important that we reflect how we got here to enable us work TOGETHER to get to where we aspire to be as a strong indivisible nation, united in hope and equal in opportunity.”

He later went on further to say that;

“Sixty years of nationhood provides an opportunity to ask ourselves questions on the extent to which we have sustained the aspirations of our founding fathers. Where did we do the right things? Are we on course? If not where did we stray and how can we remedy and retrace our steps?”

Nigeria Independence

Of course, Nigeria’s 60 years of Independence has not entirely been a bed of roses. There have been ups and downs. The right enabling environment for businesses to thrive is still not readily available. More so, there is still insecurity, mainly in the North Eastern part of the country.

However, what remains important is the willingness and determination, of the people, to overcome these perennial challenges. Sooner or later, Nigeria shall reach the Promised Land!

Ovacom Media felicitates with Nigeria on her 60th year anniversary of Independence.

Congratulations!
