The Dayo Amusa Foundation

September 11, 2020by Ovacom Media0

With the dwindling state of the economy which has had sizeable impact on the educational sector and the livelihood of the people due to the pandemic, COVID-19, the Dayo Amusa Foundation is making efforts to alleviate the hardship faced by the less privileged in the society.

Dayo Amusa, a Nigerian star actor cum singer, believes that “There has never been a more critical time to stand up for the world’s hungriest people.” She pointed out that her foundation is “Scaling up to feed thousands of people more this year. But we can’t do it alone. We need strong voices and champions to help us raise awareness and support.”

Again, through her foundation, Dayo Amusa aims to make quality education accessible for millions of children across the world. In a campaign themed #EducatingOne, the Dayo Amusa Foundation is calling on influential people in the society to support the funding of at least one child’s education.

According to her, she made the move to initiate this project having seen millions of children deprived of quality education. This is coupled with the fact that “Of all regions, sub-Saharan Africa has the highest rates of education exclusion. And over one-fifth of children between the ages of about 6 and 11 are out of school, followed by one-third of youth between the ages of about 12 and 14, as stated by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS). The UIS data also mentioned that almost 60% of youth between the ages of about 15 and 17 are not in school.”

UNESCO went on to posit that “Without urgent action, the situation will likely get worse as the region faces a rising demand for education due to a still-growing school-age population.” It is on this backdrop that the Dayo Amusa Foundation was established.

In an information fact sheet released by the foundation, they stated their belief that “No child should be uneducated and we are ensuring we put an end to this. If you can’t help a hundred people, just help one. Together we can demand a world where every child no matter their background is supported and enabled to reach their full potential.”
